Dr. Vivek Academic Agnihotri

Dr. Vivek Agnihotri started working as a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician at Saint Clare’s Health Services. After completing his Associates in Applied Science in Nursing here at County College of Morris, he landed a job as a Critical Care Staff Nurse. In 1996, he became the Nurse Epidemiologist at the same hospital. When he earned his Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner Track) in 2001, he worked with multiple hats as a critical care staff nurse, nurse epidemiologist and as a Nurse Practitioner. In 2003, he joined the Nursing Department here at CCM. More recently, he has become a part time clinical instructor at William Paterson University.

Agnihotri promotes the significance of evidence based practice at the bedside. In 2001, he completed a study on the “Effect of staffing on central venous catheter related bloodstream infections.” During the latter half of 2002 the recommendations from the study were implemented. In 2014, as a part of his doctoral dissertation, Agnihotri completed a follow up study on the economic impact of the IV team in lowering CLABSI. The study was presented at the 7th team national DNP conference in 2014.

His unpublished graduate thesis was on the “Effect of Staffing on Catheter Related Blood Stream Infection in ICU setting.”

Agnihotri immigrated to this country in 1984. He worked full time in K-Mart and went to school full time. His philosophy is that, “Pursuance of knowledge has no age limit.” There is nothing “Impossible.” Take the “imp” out of impossible and look at impossible as I’m Possible (Squire Rushnell in When God Winks).
