Making Access to a Bachelor’s Degree Easier and More Affordable – Posted 9/8/16
Expanding upon the Scholars Program they established last year, County College of Morris (CCM) and Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) on September 7 signed seven transfer agreements to make it easier and more affordable for students to earn their bachelor’s degrees in a variety of disciplines.
The agreements, signed by CCM’s new president, Dr. Anthony J. Iacono, and FDU’s new president, Dr. Christopher A. Capuano, provide a clear pathway for students to transfer their credits from CCM to FDU to earn bachelor’s degrees in animation, communication studies, computer science, creative writing, criminology/criminal justice, film/broadcasting and mathematics. All those degrees are offered through the university’s Becton College of Arts and Sciences on its Florham Campus in Madison.
“It’s a wonderful way to start a new presidency – to sign these agreements so our students have more opportunities,” said Iacono, who became CCM’s third president on September 1.
“For a county college that is close to our campus, it makes sense to have this sort of relationship … and to make these opportunities available to our students,” said Capuano, who became FDU’s eighth president on July 1.
Students who enroll in the CCM-FDU Scholars Program, created in 2015, are eligible for a 40 percent reduction in the university’s tuition on either of its campuses. High-achieving students who are NJ STARS II recipients or members of CCM’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society also are eligible for an additional tuition reduction. Students who want to reside on either FDU’s Metropolitan Campus or Florham Campus also are eligible to receive an annual $1,500 housing grant.
These latest agreements are in addition to the more than 85 transfer arrangements CCM holds with four-year colleges and universities to provide its graduates with a seamless process for transferring credits to earn their bachelor’s degrees. Learn more about CCM’s transfer agreements.
