End-of-Semester Project Features New Jersey Artists Talking About Their Creative Journey
Students in the Spring 2023 Semester TV2 course watch the series they produced, “Garden State of the Arts,” as part of a class critique.
New Jersey residents and others can gain new insight into the world of several regional artists through the “Garden State of the Arts” (GSOA) broadcast series created by County College of Morris (CCM) students enrolled in the college’s TV2 class.
Each semester, Professor Ray Kalas asks his TV2 students to produce a special project series. The Spring 2023 Semester students opted to produce five episodes for a GSOA series focusing on artists from the region.
“I am so proud of the work the students did,” said Kalas. “Their episodes are among the very best my students have ever produced.”
The episodes and the students who produced them are:
- GSOA with Michael Lancellotti, who talks about his development as an artist, produced by Joey Lancellotti of Wayne and Julia Gosden of Rockaway.
- GSOA with Victor Lake, a young fashion designer, who speaks about designing and founding the Smouth Brand, produced by Payton Reid and Michael Prada both from Jefferson.
- GSOA with Sherry Carnegie, who talks about her passion for teaching art, produced by Kaitlin McGraw of Stanhope and Devon Lane of Roxbury.
- GSOA with Bob Richardson, who speaks about creating sculptures from things people throw away, produced by Brandon Lee of Succasunna and Zachary Spina of Denville.
- GSOA with Todd Doney, a Fine Arts professor at CCM, who talks about his creative journey and the satisfaction he gets from working with students and their shared journey of discovery, produced by Kevin Roe of Whippany and Christian Russomanno of Jefferson.
The Production Coordinator for the series was Stephen Keltos of Mt. Arlington.
“It was very satisfying,” said Reid about his work on the episode with Lancellotti and what he learned in the class. “It was a good experience from start to finish, from finding the talent and then bringing it all together in the studio.”
