Spring Music Concert and Cabaret Theatre Performance
The culmination of weekly rehearsals, from perfecting moves to fine tuning the music, will finally be put onto the stages at County College of Morris (CCM) when the Department of Music, 
Performing Arts and Music Technologies presents two spring shows in April that are free and open to the public.
The CCM Spring Music Concert featuring the Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble will perform music from a variety of genres, including spiritual, Irish, classical, and contemporary. The concert will be held on Friday, April 26, at the Dragonetti Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. CCM is located at 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph.
Conductors of the Spring Music Concert are Professors William Briggs, Rich Barrieres and Marielaine Mammon. A new and special addition to the concert will occur this year when CCM musicians share the stage for two musical pieces with Randolph High School students, conducted by Matt Swiss, Randolph High School music teacher.
“Every year we are now going to invite a different area high school and their conductor to perform with us,” says Mammon, chair of the CCM Department of Music, Performing Arts and Music Technologies. “This is a great way to collaborate and showcase musicians in Morris County.”
CCM’s Cabaret Theatre Performance is the second show occurring at the end of April and will be held at the Music Technology Center Laboratory on Monday and Tuesday, April 29 and 30, at 7:30 p.m. The overlying themes of the performance are occupation, profession and making money. Songs and scenes of hit Broadway shows include the “Waitress,” “Annie,” “42nd Street,” “Cabaret,” “Grease,” “Working” and “9-5.”
Directed by Mammon, performers are students who took the CCM class in Cabaret. The students auditioned to perform for select pieces. Student choreographers are Sabrina Olivieri and Noelle Cappuzzo. Additionally, Professor Angelo DeFazio’s drama class will be performing and reading scenes that they have been working on.
“The Cabaret class gives the students a different approach to performance in an intimate setting that also gives them the closeness to the audience,” remarks Mammon. “All students from the Cabaret class sing and dance and are exposed to both elements of drama and musical theatre. Students are involved with the lights, sound, and we even have music students performing in the orchestra.”
