Spring 2022 Performances to Inspire, Entertain and Provide Laughter
The Department of Music, Performing Arts and Music Technologies at County College of Morris (CCM) announced its spring season featuring two popular performances, each designed to inspire and entertain a variety of theater-goers. John Cariani’s drama LOVE/SICK is a collection of nine slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays. Set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality, this romp explores the pain and the joy that comes with being in love. Full of imperfect lovers and dreamers, LOVE/SICK is an unromantic comedy for the romantic in everyone.
Equally entertaining later this spring is the award-winning classic, Guys and Dolls. Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, this musical comedy gambles with luck and love under the bright lights of Broadway. Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments they’ve been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
The performance of LOVE/SICK begins Thursday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. with an additional show on Friday and Saturday evenings. Guys and Dolls runs for four days starting April 6 – April 9 also at 7:30 p.m. All performances are held in the Dragonetti Auditorium in the Student Community Center on the CCM campus, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph.
General Admission is $15 and for CCM students, CCM alumni, children under 12 and seniors 62 and over is $10. Purchase Tickets at https://bookstore.ccm.edu/current-shows. CCM is following New Jersey Executive Order 251 mandating masking indoors in all public settings.
