Ceramic Artwork on Display through February 28
Winter is a perfect season to expand upon a love of the arts. To assist with that, the County College of Morris (CCM) Art and Design Gallery will be hosting an exhibition, “The Tangible Mystery of Fire,” featuring the ceramic works of several Northern New Jersey artists.
The exhibition runs from February 1 through February 28 in the Art and Design Gallery in the
Sherman H. Masten Learning Resource Center, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph, NJ 07869. A reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held Thursday, February 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The exhibit showcases a wide variety of ceramic pieces created by artists residing throughout Northern New Jersey. The ceramic forms vary from traditional functional pottery to more sculptural forms ranging in size and function.
The curator for the exhibit is Clayton Allen, associate professor of visuals arts at CCM. After winning a scholarship at the City College of New York to study English literature, Allen decided to try his hand at ceramics and fell in love with the medium. He then went on to earn his MFA from City College of New York.
The CCM Art and Design Gallery is open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m., Fridays noon to 4 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
