The staff at the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is tasked to support faculty and staff on their professional learning.
Our Mission
The mission of the CTL at CCM is to facilitate teaching-learning excellence and academic scholarship through:
- Fostering and supporting environments, strategies, and technologies to promote excellence in teaching and learning.
- Developing and facilitating workshops and programs to enhance teaching and learning processes.
- Supporting accessible course design and delivery in multiple learning modalities (tradition, online and hybrid) by applying the Universal Design for Learning guidelines.
- Helping to develop a culture of evidence-based practice to support teaching and learning.
- Encouraging and supporting professional development and faculty scholarship.
- Facilitating an atmosphere of collaboration, camaraderie, inclusiveness, diversity, and recognition of peer excellence.
CTL Staff
Professor Bryan Lemme
Co-Director, Center for Teaching and Learning
Bryan Lemme has a BS in Exercise Science from William Paterson University and received his MS in Clinical Exercise Physiology from East Stroudsburg University. Prior to teaching at CCM, Professor Lemme worked as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and became an Adjunct Professor for the Health and Exercise Science Department in August 2011. He became an Assistant Professor in January 2015.
Professor Deborah Poetsch
Co-Director, Center for Teaching and Learning
Deborah Poetsch has a BA in Mathematics from the State University Of New York, College at Geneseo and received her MSEd in Mathematics Education from the City University of New York, Queens College. Prior to teaching at CCM, Professor Poetsch taught mathematics at Harding Township School in New Vernon, New Jersey. She began her career at CCM as an Adjunct Professor and was hired full time in August of 2011. In addition to her CTL Co-Director responsibilities, Professor Poetsch is the Assistant Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics.
Kathleen Sauerman
Administrative Assistant
Kathleen Sauerman is the Administrative Assistant for the Center for Teaching and Learning, she has been with CCM since July 2013. Kathleen is responsible for the daily operation of the Center, as well as managing the Learning Sessions calendar and registrations, and is the first point of contact with CCM faculty, staff and students.
Kathleen has an AS in Business from Mt. Ida College in Newton, MA. Prior to CCM, Kathleen worked at a large telecommunications company in their Marketing, Finance and Executive Departments. After leaving the telecommuncations industry, she worked as a Sunday School Administrator.
