A Federally Funded Partnership with East Stroudsburg University
Known for its strong and highly recognized associate degree programs, County College of Morris (CCM) now is making it even easier – and more affordable – for students interested in a STEM career to reach for their dreams.
As a partner on a $5 million National Science Foundation grant with East Stroudsburg University (ESU), CCM is offering students the opportunity to receive a scholarship of up to $10,400 to attend the community college and then up to $20,000 to earn their bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from ESU. This is year two of the grant-funded program.
“This is a fantastic opportunity that will allow our students to earn their associate degree and then their bachelor’s degree with strong financial support throughout their course of study,” said Professor Samantha Gigliotti, Biology & Chemistry, who oversees the program at CCM.
“At CCM, students are able to choose from a wide selection of highly respected STEM programs to qualify them for high-demand and well-paying careers,” added Dr. Maria Isaza, dean of the School of Health Professions & Natural Sciences.
CCM offers more than a dozen STEM degree programs including biology and chemistry offerings ranging from biotechnology to environmental, and information technology and mathematics programs with a focus on data security and analytics.
The STEM scholarship program at ESU, known as Clear Path, is designed to support students interested in earning a degree in biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, computer science, computer security, environmental studies, marine science, mathematics or physics. “Clear Path is an amazing program that I greatly benefitted from,” said Mollie Jimenez, who graduated from CCM with an Associate in Biology/Environmental Track and then graduated from ESU this past spring with a bachelor’s in Environmental Studies. During her undergraduate studies at ESU, she completed an internship at the Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute and now works full time there as a wildlife research technician. “The mentors and other students in the program created a safe, friendly group that answered any questions I had and helped me with making my schedule, graduation and any other support I needed,” shared Jimenez.
