On Campus – Health & Physical Education Building
The session will include a demonstration of Alpha Drone’s commercial drones here on campus at CCM. Park in Lot 7 and walk to the HPE building.

What You Will Learn
Learn about aeronautical terminology, FAA requirements and regulations, airport operations, types of drones and their usage, careers, map reading, pilot performance factors, flight restrictions, and effect of weather. Explore practical applications and flight training. Learn about emergency procedures, radio communication, drone performance, defensive handling, drone loading, drone maintenance, inspection procedures, decision making, FAA registration and marking, crew resource management, and more. Class will prepare for the FAA certification exam.

11 weeks: 20 sessions. 65 hours, CEU 6.5
Dates for Spring 2025 – Tuesdays and Saturdays, April 15-June 28
Tuesdays, 6-8:30 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and some Saturday labs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Remote Pilot (Drone) FAA 107 Certification (AVI-100E)
In order to fly a drone under the FAA’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107), you must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA. This certificate demonstrates that you understand the regulations, operating requirements and procedures for safely flying drones. Industrial drones provide new and versatile ways for businesses to operate. FAA certified drone pilots are in demand as the drone industry grows. Drones are used in the hospitality/tourism industry, healthcare, agriculture, emergency response, law enforcement, retail, sport/entertainment, real estate and more.
In partnership with a leading industrial drone operator, Alpha Aviation, you will prepare to take the FAA certification exam after completion of this course that features introductory flight lessons, real world drone applications and job readiness training, as well as acquire the classroom knowledge to prepare you for certification. Learn the vocabulary, applicable regulations, airspace classification, operating requirements, flight restrictions, weather and weather effects on drone operation, charts and maps and decision-making. An important part of the class will be operating the drones for flight training. AVI-100E.

The FAA 107 exam must be proctored and facilitated at FAA-approved testing centers. The FAA exam fee is not included in this course.
