What You Will Learn

The mission of the English as a Second Language (ESL) program is to give students the academic English skills and cultural knowledge they need to complete a degree at a U.S. college where English is the principal language.

Why Study at CCM?

With only three levels, the ESL Program at CCM is an intensive and accelerated curriculum. A full-time student who begins at Level I can start taking major courses during the summer of their first year; students who place in Level III can begin their major within the first semester. The majority of classes in the ESL Program are taught by full-time faculty who hold at least a master’s degree in ESL, TESOL, or Applied Linguistics.

Where You Can Go

Upon successful completion of the ESL program, students advance into the appropriate course in the Department of English to fulfill the Communication requirement of their major. Students are also permitted to enroll in other courses in their major after Level II.
