What You Will Learn
If you are inspired by the recording and synchronizing of audio, the music recording program at CCM provides the foundation you need to gain entry-level employment in the recording industry.
Acquire hands-on experience using state-of-the-art audio gear in the newly constructed Music Technology Center. This massive building on campus houses two recording studios amongst a plethora of other real-world spaces.
Digital and analog recording equipment available in these learning labs include Audient analog consoles, Lexicon digital reverbs, Tubetech mic preamps and compressors, Amek/Neve mic preamps and microphones by Neumann, AKG, Earthworks, Lawson, Coles, Beyer, Shure, Sennheiser, Telefunken and EV, amongst other tools.
Upon earning your Associate of Science degree in Music Recording from CCM you are also well prepared to transfer and continue your studies at a four-year college or university towards your bachelor’s degree.
Curriculum
The Music Recording program features a 38-credit core with courses focused on recording, music business, microphone and audio techniques, hard disk recording, and an internship in the music recording business.
You can also focus on music theory, an application in voice or piano, or pursue chamber choir.

Featured Courses
Hard Disc Recording
Students learn about the operation and application of AVID Pro Tools hard disk recording and editing software. Topics include signal flow and routing, editing, fades and cross fades, digital signal processing, mixing, and automation.
Intro to Music Recording
An introduction to the commercial recording studio with in-class demos and hands-on workshops. Topics include studio acoustics and design, sound and hearing, microphones and microphone technique, recording console and signal flow, analog and digital recording systems, and signal processing.
Audio Production Techniques
Focus on the development of critical listening skills, as well as the use of different recording and mixing techniques to enhance the overall production value of a recording. Produce a sound-alike project to emulate the sound of a preexisting recording.
