If you have a strong passion for music and want to apply it in your career, consider enrolling in the music program at CCM. This program gives you a comprehensive music foundation including pathways in music literacy, theory, aural comprehension and performance. Additionally, you develop an appreciation of the liberal arts and an understanding of aesthetics and human expression that is valuable to many employers.
The Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Music program at CCM consists of a curriculum that is universally required of music majors in the first two years of any four-year program to earn a bachelor’s degree. Be well prepared to transfer to major in primary and secondary music education, music performance, music therapy, or audition for professional music ensembles.
Curriculum
Our Music program enables you to focus on a 23-credit musical core with courses in music theory, applied music and chamber choir, as well as choosing to concentrate in voice or piano.

A hands-on course offering students a wide variety of meaningful experiences which provide a foundation for musical growth and understanding of early childhood music.
Jazz History and Styles
This course is an examination of the styles and elements of this improvisational music from the 1860’s to the present focusing on the evolution of jazz from its roots in the blues and spirituals to the emergence of contemporary fusion and avant-garde styles.
