The DAISY Award is an international recognition program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a young man who passed away in 1999. Pat’s family experienced first-hand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care.

They created The DAISY Award to express their gratitude to nurses everywhere. As the DAISY Award program grew, the founders realized that there must be gifted educators who influence these nurses and so the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faculty Award was created.

The intent was to honor nursing faculty who inspire their students to always remember that nursing is much more than tasks and technology. These faculty help ensure that the art as well as the science of nursing are brought to every patient experience. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faculty recognizes and celebrates the contributions these dedicated faculty make to their students and the future of nursing.
