Academic Advisement Overview

Regular meetings with your academic advisors will save you time, money, and provide you with the enriching personal experience of working with professional faculty members.  The Academic Advisement Program at CCM is designed to help you access the many educational resources available at the college, provide career guidance and advice, and assist you with selecting appropriate courses each semester.

All students are encouraged to meet with their Academic Advisors to discuss course selection and sequence before each registration period.

You should know…

  • Matriculated Students are assigned to work with an advisor or group of advisors within the department of the major they are pursuing. First-year students are assigned to a Student Success Specialist in The Academic Success Center.
  • Non-matriculated Students are assigned to a Student Success Specialist in The Academic Success Center.

How the connection is made…

  • New Students  – Within the first few weeks of each semester, you will receive an email from the Coordinator of Academic Advisement and Student Success pointing you to a link on the website with the name/s of your Academic Advisor/s. You may also  look at your Student Planning link from Titans Direct under ‘the advising tab.’
  • Current Students – Unless you have changed your major, you should continue to meet with the advisor/s to whom you were previously assigned (the above reference for New Students will also apply).
